More information from KDOT:
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will fully close both northbound and southbound I-135 in Wichita for construction during the weekend of Friday, June 6- Monday, June 9.
To allow early pavement patching, southbound I-135 will close at 7 p.m. Friday from the K-254 interchange to just past the K-96 interchange. The ramp from westbound K-96 to southbound I-135 also will close at that time. The newly constructed I-235 connector ramp to eastbound K-96 will remain open Friday night.
Beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday, June 7, I-135 will fully close in both directions. This includes northbound I-135 at the K-96/I-135 interchange, the I-235 ramps to southbound I-135 and the I-235 connector ramp to eastbound K-96. Weekend work will include pavement patching, bridge surface repairs and barrier wall adjustments.
Northbound traffic will be diverted to eastbound K-96. Drivers will exit at Hillside Street and use westbound K-96 to return to northbound I-135. Motorists will not be able to turn north or south onto Hillside Street from the K-96 detour route.
All lanes and ramps are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, June 9. Drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs and use alternative routes. Exercise caution while traveling through the area.
