While plastic bags and shredded paper both jam the conveyors at the South Hutchinson Recycling Plant, you can recycle plastic bags at retailers such as Wal-Mart and Dillons. Motor oil can be recycled at retailers such as Wal-Mart Automotive Centers, O’Reilly Auto Parts, and the Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Materials Collection Center at 801 Stillwell St, near the intersection of Seneca and Lincoln streets. This Sedgwick County Center also accepts all batteries, chemicals, paints, poisons, pressurized tanks (for grills, camp stoves, others), fire extinguishers, thermometers, fuels, and fluorescent lights.
